Hi! I’m an intermediate level sewer (yeah, I still say sewer) who’s been sewing on-and-off for over 15 years.
I grew up watching my mom sew awesome garments, many of them for me. Because I’m a super-genius, I pretty much waited until after I left home and went to college to learn to sew. I absorbed a lot from my amazing mom, but most of my sewing knowledge is self-taught, which means I’ve made a lot of errors along the way. All of them. Repeatedly.
My machine is a basic Kenmore (model 385.18330) that I saved up for back in high school. It’s nothing fancy, but it’s served me incredibly well for over 15 years. I don’t have many specialty sewing tools, mostly just my machine and my (much less trusty) iron.
I pretty much only sew clothing and I’m a very selfish sewer. My goal here is to document my makes as a record for myself. (Told you I was selfish…) I’m interested in tracking my progress and motivating myself to try new challenges and continue to learn.
You can check out some of the garments I’ve made over the years on the Handmade Wardrobe page. Some makes are more embarrassing than others, but it’s all part of the learning curve.
I’m always open to input and advice, and constructive critiques are welcome here. You can email me at stitchysara at gmail.com. I’d love to hear from you. Thanks for reading, and happy stitching!
