My poor neglected McCall’s top. You’ve been in my closet for over 7 years, and I’ve maybe worn you 2 or 3 times. You’re just too fancy for your own good.
Seriously, though, I never wear this top. I like it. I think it’s awesome. The style is cool, the fabric is great, and it fits well. But I never wear it.
It’s a weird blend of dressed-up, only seasonally appropriate, and hard to partner. My friend put her finger on the real problem when she commented “nice dress” on a waist-up photo of me in this top. It would be a nice dress! But alas, I have a top, in large part because I had less than a yard of fabric. (Other comments I’ve received on this top, which caused me to not wear it: “You look like you’re trying way too hard” and “That top is intense”.)
I don’t know how to fix it, or how to wear it. I love it, so I may never get rid of it, but I’m probably never going to do it justice.
